Program
In giving courses in the Arabic language and Moroccan culture, The Moroccan School uses programs that are in conformity with those of the Moroccan Ministry of Education, taking into account the target students and their educational needs. Each program has its general, intermediate and terminal objectives that teachers must scrupulously respect in their teaching and in their preparation of lesson plans. To reach these objectives, the school also uses Moroccan pedagogical materials that are approved by the Moroccan Ministry of Education.
However, considering the North-American context, the advisory committee on pedagogy opted for the use of modern teaching methods used in teaching second languages such as the communicative approach and some learning methodologies such as cooperative learning, project-based learning and the integration of subjects to make the learning of Arabic a stimulating and interesting experience.
The school offers courses in Classical Arabic and Moroccan culture for the 6 levels of primary school. The factors of age and level are taken into consideration as much as possible in the formation of groups.
In giving courses of Arabic and Moroccan culture, the Moroccan School uses programs in conformity with those of the Ministry for the National Education of Morocco in 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year and 5th primary year, while taking account of the specificity of the clientele concerned and its educational needs. Each program has its goals and its objectives (general, intermediate and final) that the teachers must scrupulously respect in their teaching and their lesson plans (teaching by objectives). To achieve its goals, the Moroccan School uses Moroccan teaching materials approved by the Ministry for the National Education of Morocco.
However, taking into account the wave of reform in education which is taking
place throughout the world now, the Moroccan School
is also getting involved with this new vision by developing its own textbook,
Al MAGHREBIYOU ASSAGHIR, for the pupils of the first primary year.
This textbook is based on the principles of the reform of the Ministry
for the Education of Quebec (teaching centered primarily on the fields of
learning and cross competencies) while removing all that goes
against the mission and the objectives of the School. In this way,
the child does not see any difference between his regular public school
and his Arabic school on Saturday. Moreover, the contents of this textbook
reflect a Maroco-Canadian medium which can be easily identified with and which
can also prove to be effective in helping the child learn.
